Fliegende Kampfkunst: Wuxia Special

Möchte man sich mit chinesischen Produktionen beschäftigen, muss man den Begriff Wuxia 武俠 , also chinesische Kampfkunst, kennen.

Das Genre ist bereits im 14ten Jahrhundert entstanden.

Es beinhaltet viele Kämpfe mit verschiedenen Waffen (meist Schwerter) und einen historischen Kontext.

Dieser kann real (echte Dynastien) oder fiktiv sein.

Bei den fiktiven Elementen ist vieles dabei, dazu gehören Bewegungen und Kampftechniken, die nicht den natürlichen Gesetzen entsprechen. Daher auch unser Beitrag: Wuxia Produktionen in denen die Figuren fliegen!

Man fliegt durch Bäume, über Dächer, oder einfach vor sich hin. Hauptsache Action, viel Fantasie und die Luft als Schauplatz. Fliegen können auch nicht alle sofort, denn hierbei muss man sich etwas Mühe geben: jahrelang trainieren, einen „Flug“-Meister haben, der einem komplexe Techniken beibringt, usw.

Zu Wuxia gehören übrigens sehr oft eine Liebesgeschichte, nicht selten tragisch, und Shonen-artige junge Männer. Deren Weg beinhaltet meist die folgende Handlung: Zuerst können sie nicht fliegen, plötzlich kommen sie dem Himmel näher und dann übertreffen sie alle. Es wird geflogen, was das Zeug hält.

If you want to spend some time learning about Chinese productions, you have to know the term Wuxia 武俠, which means Chinese martial arts.

The genre originated in the 14th century and includes a lot of fighting with different weapons (mostly swords).  
A historical context is also needed, which can be real (real dynasties) or fictional. Fictional elements include fight moves and combat elements that don't follow the laws of nature. Hence our current entry: Wuxia

Accordingly, this includes flying through trees, over roofs, just-because hanging-in-the-air flying. As long as there is lots of imagination and the air above all, the scene is set. Yet, sadly, not everyone can fly immediately, and some need to put in a lot of effort, train for years, have a "flight" master who teaches them complex techniques, etc.

Wuxia, by the way, very often involves an often tragic love story,  and Shonen-like young men. Their path usually follows a specific storyline: at first they can't fly, suddenly they rise to the skies, and then they surpass everyone with their flying abilities. It´s a flying extravaganza. 

Jin Yong´s Reihe „Condor Trilogie“ zählt zu den bekanntesten Werken der Wuxia Flugkunst. Der Hong Kong Autor wird dafür bewundert, dass er eine Brücke zwischen Ost und West geschaffen hat. Der absolute Durchbruch gelang dem Genre allerdings erst in den 2000ern, und zwar dem Regisseur Ang Lee mit „Tiger and Dragon“.

Nach Tiger and Dragon folgten einige westliche Produktionen mit Wuxia Elementen, die inzwischen zu den besten Hollywood-Filmen aus der Zeit gelten, z.B. die Matrix-Trilogie, Kill Bill I und II.

Tiger and Dragon was followed by a number of western productions with wuxia elements, which are now considered among the best Hollywood films of that time, e.g. the Matrix trilogy, Kill Bill I and II.
